A Great Taste Award winning blue cheese, Blacksticks is the original contemporary farmhouse blue cheese. Made with love, using traditional handmade methods, with rich milk produced by the herds of our family and friends all within a 10km radius of our Lancashire family dairy.
It is crafted in open vats, then poured into individual moulds, turned by hand and matured under the watchful eyes of our cheese experts.

The orange comes from Annatto which is created from the seeds of the achiote tree. Not only does it give Blacksticks a great all year round tan, it adds a subtle flavour that simply doesn't exist without it.
As comfortable on a cheeseboard as it is in a sandwich, Blacksticks is truly versatile. We pair it with sweet or sharp flavours to create a real contrast. It can be melted and often switched with something like cheddar for more depth and complex flavour.

All of our cheeses are handmade in our Farmhouse Dairy in rural Lancashire. The surrounding fields are grazed by the cows who provide our milk, many of whom are looked after by extended family. Goats from another family farm just down the road, also provide us with fresh milk. We believe Lancashire and our surrounding area in particular make such a big difference to the quality of our cheese, alongside, of course the skill and experience of our wonderful team of cheesemakers.

Letterbox products are designed to fit through a regular letterbox. We post the products in accordance with APC timings based around the day you would like it dispatched, with 24 hour delivery.

We want your letterbox cheese gift to arrive in great condition, so to keep your gift as cool as possible on it's journey, we include an ice pack in your box.

Apparent food poisoning hazzard
"My father, who is on medication to reduce stomach acid levels, appears to have suffered severe food poisoning after purchasing this cheese on 17 Aug 2026 from his local branch of Morrisons (in Great Camborne in Cambridgeshire). He ate it that same afternoon and was in A&E by that evening. Three weeks later and he is still not recovered from it. He described the cheese as "slimey on the surface" but delicious (so he ate a lot of it). I think may be Butlers needs to review its food hygene practices and use by dates."
