While we focused our time into our post-fire recovery and continuity of supply for our customers, we have had a little break from entering awards... but we simply had to dip our toes back in with the Guild of Fine Food Great Taste Awards 2025.
The Great Taste logo is trusted by consumers looking for genuine quality, and that's why we are so proud to have received three awards this year.
We now have SEVEN Great Taste Award winners across our hard, blue and soft cheeses and in cow's, goat's and sheep's milk.
Our 2025 Great Taste Awards go to 🥁
⭐️⭐️ Beacon Blue – 2 stars
Beacon Blue is one of those cheeses that catches people off guard in the best possible way. It’s made with goat’s milk, it’s blue, and yet it manages to win over even the most sceptical cheese fans. Bold, bright and full of flavour.
What the judges had to say:
"With an attractive variegated rind, this cuts well and has a delicate but definite goat tang on the nose – very inviting. On the palate, there’s considerable creaminess and just a touch of clean, delicious both goat and blue flavours. This is a cheese that could convince those who don’t like either blue or goat cheeses – very subtle but a delight."
"This good-looking cheese has a subtle goatiness without a hint of farmyard billygoat. The texture is dense and creamy yet dry at the same time, while the well-distributed blue adds a ping of interest. The paste is rounded in flavour and well-balanced with the blue – perhaps a little lacking in intensity for a higher award. Nonetheless, we admired the fact that this is a blue goats cheese"
⭐️⭐️ Parlick – 2 stars
Parlick’s made with sheep’s milk and has a knack for disappearing quickly once it’s on the cheeseboard. It’s smooth and creamy, but with just the right bit of bite. A proper cheese for people who know what they like.
What the judges had to say:
"This is a simply presented block of sheeps’ milk cheese with a rich and creamy texture. We loved the lactic notes which worked well with the nutty flavour. The taste was very fresh and clean."
"A mild cheese but with the creamy nutty notes as described, this is pleasant and smooth and really tasty."
"This has a mild, slightly nutty aroma. In the mouth, it’s lactic, gentle, slightly sweet and dissolves attractively. There’s a tiny bit of grittiness which is a good thing, adding to the textural appeal. Quite simple but fresh and delightful."
⭐️ Blacksticks Blue – 1 star
Blacksticks is a bit of a legend, and it’s great to see it still getting the recognition it deserves. Creamy, punchy and impossible to ignore, just how we like it.
What the judges had to say:
"A rustic cheese with a good lactate aroma, this has an enjoyable creamy texture and an excellent mouthfeel with the creamy milk taste giving an excellent, clean, flavour profile, which is elevated with the sharp but well-judged blue, resulting in a tasty well-made cheese."
"A delicious-looking cheese with adequate distribution of blue to give appeal, this has a consistent paste and crumbles well."
